RSCs – Stimulating and Supporting Innovation in Learning
New and emerging technologies clearly provide exciting opportunities for enhancement and innovation in learning opportunities on the campus, within the workplace or at home.

Improved quality in teaching and learning underpins all our support areas. The RSC provides an advisory role to our regional post-16 learning providers, to enhance teaching and learning through the use of existing and emerging technology to improve the learner experience, e.g. personalised and flexible learning.
We can advise department and curriculum heads on innovative technology based learning using a pedagogical approach. This covers tools such as Virtual Learning Environments (VLEs), e-Portfolios and, how to choose and select the right e-learning / mobile technology to widen participation, and engage hard-to-reach learners.
The RSC can work with staff development managers to provide teachers and associated staff with development and support sessions covering topics such as effective uses of interactive whiteboards, podcasting and using VLE’s to enhance teaching and learning.
We also support teacher educators with the IFL REFLECT portfolio for teachers or teacher trainers progressing through professional formation.
Throughout the year, the RSC hosts a comprehensive programme of events and forums available to practitioners across all our supported sectors. Previous events have covered a variety of topics such as assistive technologies, change management and technology for teacher training
